Why We Smile

Why we smile.

I've wanted to run, I've wanted to hide.
I've wanted to scream
and do it while I cry.

I've wanted to hurt,
Over disappointment and defeat.
I've wanted to suffer,
Simply because I deserve it.

But then I breathe.
I sleep and I think.
I hear and I smell.
And effortfully see…

Things are what they are,
and so shall I be.

I talk, I joke, I laugh.
I walk, I fear, I get pissed off.

But I'm happy meanwhile…

Which is why we smile.
